In Which He Finishes Work Early and Gets a Feeling of Both Joy and Dread.

confusionMonday, August 16

Jesus arrived late as he always manages to do even when he happens to leave home early. Sent the customary message and checked his Facebook. Some vices die hard, some don’t die at all.

He set out to work, giving the occasional chuckle and “uh-hu” to co-worker’s redundant conversation. And since he had very little work orders pending he finished early. It was 9:30 in the morning and his desk was clear of work, he told co-worker that he was finished and set the finished work on the edge of his desk. He decided to be orderly for once and threw away things he didn’t need and put everything in neat order, and then just sat there.

At around noon co-worker asked about the finished work, which he had been told that it was already finished and had a fit which was resolved by Jesus saying he’d start setting the finished work at HIS desk instead of the place he had been doing for the past year.

Nothing to do he set to take lunch and log in. During the conversation at lunch while trying to cheer her up a bit he triggered a response he didn’t intent, he said “surely there must be something no matter how small that’s good in your life” to which she answered a very unexpected “well, there is your formula”, and this triggered on itself a train of conversation that revealed some of her fears, which he could only meet with understanding. The conversation also rang with doubt but with acceptance at the same time which pretty much set him in a place of uncertainty, or rather left him in the same uncertain yet different spot. She felt she needed to deal with some issues before moving on to something new. Jesus understood

“If you don’t mind I’ll just sit here and wait,” he tapped on the little screen. “Unless you decide to send security to escort me away with a ‘sorry young man you can’t loiter here’”, she laughed, she didn’t mind, he smiled.

And just like that lunch was over, with her saying she’d hope to have a better response soon, he was in no hurry. He logged of and despite having a filling meal felt an empty sensation in the pit of his stomach. And before handing in the devices he messaged her telling her that despite current circumstances, the fact that he loved her was irrefutable.

The remaining couple of hours he worked uneasily, playing moody songs on the computer, and telling himself that he was worrying for nothing. This turned out to be true. he always seems to have a knack for jumping to the wrong conclusions, and his mind just loves playing out all the worse scenarios in his head... his personal horror movies.

The afternoon was school, sufficiently uneventful and relatively happy.  :)

In Which Jesus Loses Immediately and Breaks a Heart

http://manimatron.blogspot.com/

text reads: scratch 2 boxes get 3 Saturday afternoon, August 14…

After work Jesus hailed a cab and boarded homebound charged with new found apathy for the day knowing it would only get worse. He bought some chips on the way. Being still around noon he’d have a busy day and hardly any of the oh-so-needed rest he thought he should have… not even a bloody nap.

Inside the bag of chips there was a promotional scratch away ticket: match 3 “S” before you get an “X”, the ticket also gave you an “S” as a freebie practically saying “just two more buddy, c’mon I’m an easy win!” More chips as the price printed. He would normally just throw away the thing, but he decided to test his luck. Taking a coin out of pocket he picked a square at random and scratched away. Sure enough as his luck would have it an “X” appeared under the smudges.

Once home he went up to his room, thick curtains drawn, nice and dark, no sun ever reached the inside. His computer had been on the fritz for a while. The system was way too unstable, it would randomly reboot or just lag like there was no tomorrow and it was trying to do all the lagging it could before tomorrow never came, it would also take ten minutes to boot, and about fifteen to shut down. Jesus did several backups and while the automated process did its job (faster than he expected at least) he played some console videogames in the meantime. A brief respite in which he allowed neither thought nor worry, they’d be plenty of time for that later. He initiated another back up and left it running in the background. He turned the monitor off and heavy heartedly left. The worst bit of the day lay ahead.

The cab ride was hellish; he could feel anxiety growing, blood blasting in his eardrums, his mouth dry, tense and fidgety all over. She was there outside the bar they were to meet at. They walked in. The bar looked like it had just opened, chairs on top of some tables. They were cleared a path to a table by the window. They ordered drinks and after an uncomfortable silence and lack of eye to eye contact she broke the silence declaring feelings he could not correspond. More silence, more words, and then tears were shed. There was already someone else for him.

They left because she felt uncomfortable in the place, he downed the drink he had barely touched and paid for both drinks. Took a brief walk in which she asked if she could take his arm, a courtesy he’d done before with other friends and saw no harm so he agreed. Some minutes later they boarded a cab, the driver’s wife and child riding in the front. They rode in silence. Once off they went their separate ways. He badly needed to have someone give him a sympathetic pat on the back and a “you did good, you did what you had to do”, the kind that you believe because you want to even if you’re not sure if you did well. He messaged the girl he likes and smiled when she replied. That was enough. Things would be all right.

He went back home and crawled onto bed while the computer whirred in the background finishing the back up. He decided to format the day after and sat at the computer to chat before she had to go.

Later Exhausted he went to bed, a bit restless still. He slept the dreamless sleep of the weary.

In Which Jesus Enjoys a Peaceful Moment and Receives an Empty Threat in the Morning

Bog Off It was Saturday August 14th.

Waking up to the sound of the alarm (which of course is the sound of the TARDIS… Google it) getting out of bed wasn’t as hard for Jesus as other days despite not being able to sleep the night before.

Going through the motions he got ready for work and content that he was actually early he set out only to see the bus turn the corner and leave him behind… he cursed aloud and broke into a trot then started running down hill. To his fortune the driver saw him through the side view mirror and stopped on another corner about half a mile down the road. He boarded.

He got to work and clocked in at 00’s just barely on time… and the office was closed. Surely enough the front desk girl came in and opened the office. she’s nice, the type that doesn’t mess with anyone, but doesn’t take any shit either. It was glorious... all was quiet, and nice. Co-worker wasn’t there. Jesus set to work with a smile.

This was of course, as is the nature of most nice things with Jesus, very short lived… others started coming in including co-worker. Peace was broken. He would have liked this few paragraphs to have just read as “morning was uneventful” but he doesn’t do “uneventful”.

Another guy from sales who likes to play around with Photoshop (amateur stuff and still does a better job at it that the ‘educated’ co-worker) so Jesus gave him some quick pointers in photo editing.. Co-worker decided to try and upstage him and tried to do some editing right there... Which only got them a warning (which most, as he did, would probably see as a threat of being fired.. which it pretty much was) that said “if you’re going to be teaching someone to do graphics, you’ll end up teaching someone to do your job”.. Except the sentence was a bit broken, the narrator just couldn’t bring himself to type it (or remember it) verbatim. After this co-worker decided to get chatty but Jesus wasn’t in the mood but decided it wouldn’t be fair to take it out on anyone.

Only an hour in and his day had already turned sour… He decided to just shut up and go through the motions of his job until he was out…

The next two hours went by uneventfully save for the moments the co-worker decided to start talking and repeating the same thing he had said many times before.

And it was still just the morning…
